Cancellation

Give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Spay Oklahoma often has a waiting list and reserves a surgical slot for each appointment. At least 48 hours’ notice is required to be eligible for rescheduling.

Pick-Up Same Day

Pets go home the same day after recovering from anesthesia. Written aftercare instructions are reviewed at pickup. The clinic will call or text when your pet is ready. If you have not heard by 4 p.m., plan to arrive at the clinic parking lot at 5 p.m.

PRE-SURGERY EXAM

Health screening before surgery

  1. The veterinarian performs a pre-operative physical exam to make sure your pet is a good surgery candidate.
  2. If a pet is too fractious to handle, the physical exam may be performed under anesthesia.
  3. Feral cats receive physical exams under anesthesia.
  4. If your pet shows illness or concerns such as age, a heart murmur, severe upper respiratory infection, obesity, or food in the stomach, surgery may be refused if the veterinarian believes it presents a health risk.
  5. The clinic is designed for healthy animals. Pets with underlying health problems should have surgery at a full-service veterinary clinic; if your pet has not been feeling well, rescheduling is recommended.

What to bring

  1. Bring each cat in a clean pet carrier.
  2. Do not put multiple cats in one carrier; each cat must be able to lie down comfortably after surgery and may be agitated from anesthesia.
  3. If multiple cats arrive in one carrier, the live site says you may be asked to transfer them to cardboard carriers for the trip home at $5 each.
